cast iron

 what is cast iron ? 

cast iron is an alloy of iron with more than 2% carbon as main alloy element . through it can have any carbon percentage between 2% and 6.67% , the practical limit is normally between 2.11%  and 4.5%.  in addition to carbon , cast iron also contain 0.5-3%  silicon , 0.1-1.2% manganese and trace of impurities  

  such as sulphur and phosphorus.
